BOATING - WATERWAYS |
|
Today, Caorle's seafaring tradition cannot exclude boating as a pastime, and at Porto Santa Margherita, the town has the largest dock in the Veneto, with mooring space for a good 800 boats. Porto Santa Margherita is a centre that was designed and planned almost to measure for boating enthusiasts. It has a large artificial stretch of water for mooring, alongside a service centre where every facility can be found for boating: from the radio station to the shops and from the dockyards to the restaurants. The subsequent development of small seafront villas have the charm of typical Veneto architecture. The Marina 4 dock is only one of Caorle's port facilities, where the small natural harbours and mooring areas are spread over an area largely taken up by canals and stretches of water. The Veneto waterway running through this area is well worth exploring and follows an unusual route from Venice to Trieste, through inner canals, lagoons and shallows, and has much to offer in the way of new sensations even to those who have always had a great love for the sea.
