POLESINE AND THE PO DELTA |
|
Polesine is old but unstable, both on account of the continuous evolution of the territory and because here, more than elsewhere, you are aware of the meeting and contradictory companionship of different civilizations and cultures. The landscape appears as a wide open plain, a continuous series of farmed fields, scarcely broken by scattered villages and towns, and intersected by roads, rivers and canals. The countryside runs swiftly towards the sea, embraced by two rivers, until it crumbles and disappears in the torment of the Po Delta.
