WATER

Without this great abundance of waterways, Polesine would be inconceivable. There, water has always been a problem and, at the same time, an important resource, but also an essential characteristic and even a way of life.

The two major rivers mark the boundaries to north and south. These rivers flow into the sea just a short distance from each other, though each in different ways.

The Adige forms an estuary, while the Po branches out to form an embroidered pattern of emerged and submerged land, alternating between the five arms of the delta reaching out into the sea.

Many other rivers and canals run through the territory, which also features broad stretches of water fed by underground springs.
