| Baja Sardinia is one of these places: it is laid out in fan formation in a wide bay, along a beach with crystal clear waters and the finest sand, facing the archipelago of La Maddalena, about 4 kilometres to the west of Porto Cervo. Baja Sardinia was built a few years after the tourist boom on the Emerald Coast, promoted by a group of Italian businessmen. In the village, which is also equipped with high quality services, there is the greatest concentration of 4 and 3 star hotels in the area. The most popular sport in the area is windsurfing, thanks also to a favourable combination of currents and winds which allow enthusiasts to practise it in the most suitable conditions. This sport is practised all along the coast and there are a great many schools where beginners can soon learn the necessary skills.
