THE FARMHOUSES |
|
Other typical features of this territory are the farmhouses, simple and functional structures, surrounded by old oaks and holm oaks. The economy of the farms was based mainly on sowable land and pastures, and particularly on the breeding of horses and donkeys, with fine stock exported all over the world.
The architecture of the farmhouses reflects that of the town buildings, but on a much more modest scale. They are often adorned with defensive elements and have a sober, simple, linear appearance, with a few exceptions such as at Palesi and Grassi which share certain decorative aspects of the town "barocchetto", creating a striking surrealist effect, due to the combination of the variegated colours of nature with the surrounding environment.
