AN INVITATION TO VISIT OUR HINTERLAND |

On the one side there is the sea, on the other the three highest mountains in the Central Apennines; Mounts Catria, Petrano and Nerone, then there is the Metauro valley and the Cesano valley, and further up the Candigliano valley; encompassing a perfect and varied holiday area. In the middle of this area we find the breathtaking "Gola del Furlo" narrow gorge, and through this passes the thousand-year old Consular Road "Flaminia", between Mounts Pietralata and Paganuccio and the large Parco delle Cesane nature reserve. The lanscape, history, monuments, museums, villas, handicrafts, gastronomy and other "ingredients" render your "recreation" time more varied, intelligent and attractive. In other words there is a little of everything. The hills rise slowly, like the waves of the sea, in a great variety of shape, form and colour, an incomparable landscape architecture, from which villages, castles and abbeys suddenly arise. Their thousand-year history seems almost to deride the commercial successes which have made Fossombrone, Cagli and Pergola gorw and prosper, and which have made them today real small towns, where life flows by peacefully within an urban context but which still retain evidence of their expansion and where there are surprisingly curious and beatiful spots. For this reason too anyone can find something of particular interest to them in this part of the Marche region.
