Current production has its roots in the past, and often the work is real art. An example of this is the ancient tradition of inlaying and wood restoration, the working of stone, which has its epicentre in Cagli, Piobbico and Acqualagna: the working of leather in Pianello di Cagli, woollen carpets or blankets which are a speciality from Piobbico. Also worthy of mention is the earthenware from Fratterosa as are the vase makers from Barchi, and the ancient stone working in the "town of the madonnas" - S. Ippolito, which has also made and international name for itself in the working of cane and bamboo for furniture and furnishing articles and knitwear from Montemaggiore al Metauro. There is still a large home industry for lace-making.
