SEA TRADITIONS
	The people of Procida live in close communication with the sea: they are excellent sailors cruising the seas of the globe and practising fishing. The fresh fish which is often served on Procida is all the more tasty when dressed with the juice of the exquisite lemons of Procida, lemons of exceptional taste and succulence, and accompanied by the white wine produced on the island itself. The people's love of the sea has led to the flowering of nautical schools and of traditional ship-model making. Excellent specimens of this handicraft have been collected and organically classified. Of interest are also the numerous votive offerings exhibited in several churches and representing adventurous sea-voyages or extraordinarily prodigious rescues. The fact that women used to wait for their husbands' return has given rise to the tradition of artistic embroidery which yielded splendid specimens, some of them still extant.
