There is a region in Italy where you can spend pleasant healthy holidays for twelve months in the year. It is a region with over 750 kilometres of variable coastline, fascinating, wild, tormented and yet gentle at the same time, lying between two seas, the Tyrrhenian and the Ionian, which are particularly clear and clean. Besides the sea, this region offers beautiful mountains such as the Pollino group to the north of the Sila plateau, the Serre in the centre and Aspromonte in the south; then there are woodlands, forests, lakes, rivers and valleys, all combining to form a spectacular landscape. This region can be none other than Calabria, unforgettable in its many contrasting aspects: mysterious and simple, old and modern, real and fairy-tale.
Those who have not seen it absolutely must make the effort; those who know it a little absolutely must get to know it better. You need not make a study tour, just spend a holiday there. There is no problem about the season, any time of the year will do. In winter you can head for the mountains, climbing and going on excusions; in summer or autumn, choose a life by the sea with all that this implies. Sports enthusiasts can choose water skiing, sailing, underwater fishing, yachting or swimming.
